Your mother has passed away and you have no parents, no family. Your grief is inconsolable. You are wandering outside the Exatronia capital, not knowing what to do with your life. What's the point of being an adventurer now, if your parents are no longer there to be proud of you? Suddenly, you hear a female voice calling you.
"Hey? Are you there?"
"Yes, I'm coming."
You go to the voice's source and meet a redheaded woman in mourning. Her name is Morgana and she lost her husband 5 years ago, the same year the Demon King was defeated. You tell her that you have also lost loved ones, your parents, Raziell and Angells. Your mother's death is very recent.
"Then there is still hope!" Morgana says to you with bright eyes. "There is a sword with the power to raise the dead."
"Really? I've never heard of it, and why didn't you use it for your husband?"
"Because I couldn't get it out of its socket. It is Exatron’s Sacred Sword, after all."
Exatron’s Sacred Sword! It is a legendary blade, wielded by King Ernest himself, but didn't he use it to defeat the Demon King?
"The Exatron’s Sacred Sword is in a small shrine, located in the Forbidden Zone." Morgana continues to explain. "The area is named that only to scare away robbers. If you go get this sword, you will be able to bring your mother back to life!"
It sounds too good to be true and this Morgana seems suspicious. How does she know your name? This is the first time you've seen her. Morgana also seems to give off a strange aura. Besides, this Forbidden Zone where the sword is, wasn't it where the Demon King was defeated? Nevertheless, you would be so happy to see Angells again.
"So, what do you say?"
"I... Morgana, I'm not sure..."
"How about I pay you? That would be like an adventurer's quest!"
"Well, how much?"
"Enough gold coins to live comfortably."
That's an offer you can't refuse. Besides, bringing your mother back to life...
"Okay. I'll go to the Forbidden Zone and get Exatron’s Sacred Sword."
Morgana smiles, wishes you good luck, and you set off. While you are quite far from her, Morgana laughs out loud.
"That was too easy." She said softly. "To fool that idiot. Now I have to get ready for his return!"
She disappeared in a black cloud of darkness.
Meanwhile, you arrive at the Forbidden Zone. It is a hot place, with lava all over. You go to the small shrine and remove the sacred sword, although you find it strange that a magic circle surrounds the base. Like a seal. Suddenly, a powerful black magic fills the shrine and a being of darkness, wearing black armor, appears.
"Ha ha ha! Thank you for freeing me, mortal!"
His voice is inhuman. You ask who he is.
"What? Are you mocking me? I'm the Demon King!"
"What? How? King Ernest and his companions have defeated you, destroyed you!"
"That's what he told his subjects, I presume? Nonsense. I am the ultimate evil. I cannot be defeated, only imprisoned, and you, poor fool, have freed me from my prison!"
"But... But..."
You hold back from panicking.
"Morgana told me..."
"Morgana? My consort, my love? She fooled you. What did she tell you? That taking Exatron’s Sacred Sword would give you divine powers? Or that it would allow you to raise the dead? All lies!"
You remain silent. How could you be so stupid? Now the Demon King is free and who can stop him? King Ernest? He's gone. So are his friends.
"Normally I would kill you, mortal, but I can see that you are no threat to me and my plan."
"Your plan?" You dare to ask him.
"Yes, my plan, to cover the land of Exatron and the whole world with my darkness! Then the demons will dominate you all. Humans, fairies and even spirits!"
The Demon King laughs then tells you to go home.
"Enjoy the time you have left, mortal, before I come for you to be my slave!"
Then it disappears in a powerful black magic aura. You are now alone and feel guilty. Who will save the world from the Demon King? Not you, that's for sure. You are not even an adventurer. You didn't choose your class (wizard, archer, warrior, etc.) in Exatronia, nor did you learn to wield weapons. You look at Exatron’s Sacred Sword. Its blade has turned blood red. The sword is now cursed.
You sigh and plan to leave the shrine when a fairy with long blonde hair appears and stops you from leaving.
"NOOOOO!" She shouts. "What have you done? You've released the Demon King!"
"I already know that. Who are you?"
"I'm the Fairy Queen and you need to fix this."
"‘Fix... this’? No, no, no, I can't stop the Demon King!"
"Yes, you can. It's your destiny. Your duty."
"Your Highness, you are mistaken. I..."
"What are your parents' names?"
"Raziell and Angells."
"You see, this is your destiny! Angells sealed the Demon King with King Ernest five years ago. As her only child, you must take over and save the world!"
No matter how much you insist, the Fairy Queen won't listen. She refuses to let you pass until you accept this great quest. Fighting her would be useless, as her magic can easily kill you. You sigh again and tell the queen that you agree to save the world.
"Excellent! I'll tell you more at the Fairy Fountain. Meet me there!"
The Fairy Queen disappears, you leave the small shrine, then the Forbidden Zone and your quest begins. A quest that will take you all over the land of Exatron. A quest where you will have to purify the cursed Exatron’s sword (aka "The Blood Sword") by doing temples and fighting elemental spirits. A quest where you will meet fellow travelers. Mercuria, the last of her people, the Sorce-Blade, adepts of both sword and magic. Rubis, a Water Sage, a magician and Elemental Djinns’ summoner. Hector, a Warrior and one of King Ernest's former protectors. A quest where you will become an accomplished adventurer and friend of Mercuria, Rubis, Hector. A quest where you will be able to make Morgana pay for her deception. In short, a quest where you will save the world from the Demon King by sealing him up again!
